Kenyan volleyball sensation Merlin Terry Tata has
officially launched her professional career in Europe by signing a one-year
contract with Turkish club Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrum Spor.
The 20-year-old Malkia Strikers opposite hitter
makes the high-profile transition to Turkey after a stellar three-year stint
with domestic powerhouses KCB Volleyball Club.
Tata burst onto the national stage in 2023, powering
KCB to the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National Women's League title
while still a Form Three student at Kwanthanze Secondary School.
During her stellar tenure with the Bankers, she led
the team to two league titles and anchored their historic 2024 Kenya Cup
victory.
Tata leaves KCB as one of Kenya’s most formidable rising attackers. Her standout tenure with the Bankers is highlighted by back-to-back MVP honours at the 2024 Kipchumba Karori International Volleyball Tournament and the 2025 Kenya Cup, as well as a career-defining Best Opposite Attacker award at the 2026 African Women’s Club Championship.
The rising star is scheduled to make her highly
anticipated European debut this Sunday, October 18, 2026, in a challenging
premier clash where Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrum Spor will go head-to-head with
Turkish volleyball giants Fenerbahçe.
The move marks a new chapter in Tata’s career as she
ventures into Turkish volleyball. Her experience at both club and national team
levels is expected to boost her new team as she adapts to the demands of the
Turkish league.
