Residents in parts of Kpone-Katamanso, Tema and Ashaiman are expected to receive water on scheduled days under a rationing programme Ghana Water Limited (GWL) plans to introduce within two weeks.
The move is aimed at managing persistent water supply challenges in parts of the eastern corridor of the Greater Accra Region, including Tema East and Tema West.
GWL’s Public Relations Officer, Stanley Martey, announced the plan during a tour of affected communities, explaining that the company would divide the areas into three zones to coordinate distribution.
He said the schedule would inform residents when water would be available in their communities, giving households an opportunity to store water ahead of supply interruptions.
“We will come out with a rationing programme, or a water demand management programme, and inform the various areas of the days on which they will receive water.
“In about a week or two, we should be able to finalise the programme and communicate it to the affected communities,” he said.
Mr Martey also said engineers had carried out re-engineering works in some communities as part of efforts to improve water flow and address the supply difficulties.
