LG Electronics (066570.KS) on the 18th launched the LG PuriCare Hydro Tower Max, a premium humidifier and air purifier that uses artificial intelligence to manage humidity and air quality in large spaces.
While the existing Hydro Tower handles humidification and air purification in individual rooms such as bedrooms, the new Max model targets larger spaces like living rooms. For users who need humidification alone, the company offers the Hydro Essential, which features water filtration, sterilization and drying functions.
The new model combines filtered-water humidification technology, AI humidification tailored to the space and air purification performance. The AI analyzes the size and temperature of an indoor space to determine the appropriate humidification level and adjusts it automatically, helping maintain comfortable humidity without requiring users to set the level manually. Humidification output reaches up to 850 cubic centimeters per hour, and a full 4.5-liter stainless steel water tank allows up to 18 hours of continuous use in standard humidification mode at medium speed.
Hygiene management has also been strengthened. Water filtered through a purification filter is heated to 100 degrees Celsius for sterilization before being dispersed by ultrasonic humidification, and remaining water inside the unit is collected and dried automatically after use. The company said the humidification process draws air that has passed through a cleaning filter, managing everything from the water-contact components to the air outlet through four stages: filtration, sterilization, purification and drying.
The air purification coverage is about 66 square meters, enough to handle the living room of a typical mid-sized apartment. Because humidification and air purification can run simultaneously, the device can manage both humidity and dust during winter and seasonal transitions, and serve as an air purifier in other seasons.
The product offers mood lighting with three themes — campfire, aurora and ripple — and 12 colors, allowing users to match the lighting to the atmosphere of a room. For nighttime use, it features a 26-decibel low-noise mode and an automatic light-off function using an illuminance sensor. Hidden wheels on the bottom of the unit make it easier to move.
The product is priced at 2.39 million won (about $1,700). Subscription customers receive regular professional maintenance, including a full disassembly and cleaning of the unit's interior in the third year. "We will lead the premium humidifier market with our hygiene management and air purification performance," said Hong Soon-yeol, head of LG Electronics' Air Care Business Division.
