English football club Borrowash Victoria FC have entered into a new partnership with football agent Joseph Morton, with the shared ambition of helping talented Bermudian footballers progress towards full-time professional football in England.
The agreement has already resulted in the arrival of Bermudian player Jakeem Jennings, with further players from the island expected to follow.
Currently competing at Step 7 of the English football pyramid, Borrowash have ambitious plans to progress through the leagues and believe that talented Bermudian players can play an important role in the club’s future success.
In return, the club hopes to provide a platform for Bermudian footballers to develop, gain experience in English football and ultimately attract opportunities at higher levels of the game.
The partnership with Morton is designed to establish a long-term connection between Bermuda and English football, creating opportunities that benefit both the players and Borrowash Victoria.
Morton also runs the Central Excellence in Football Bermuda Instagram page, which promotes local footballers playing in England.
A spokesperson for Borrowash Victoria FC explained: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Joseph Morton and establishing what we hope will become a really successful relationship with Bermuda.
“We know there is some outstanding footballing talent on the island, and we believe many of those players deserve opportunities to test themselves in English football.
“Our ambition at Borrowash Victoria is to climb the English football pyramid, and we want ambitious, talented players who share that determination to succeed.
“This partnership gives us the opportunity to strengthen our squad with exciting Bermudian talent, while giving those players a platform to showcase their abilities and hopefully progress into full-time football.
“It’s a relationship that we believe can be hugely beneficial for everyone involved.”
Jennings, a Bermuda Under-23 forward, is the first Bermudian player to join Borrowash Victoria through the new relationship, marking the beginning of what the club hopes will be a successful recruitment pathway.
“Jakeem represents the start of something we’re really excited about,” the club continued.
“We want to create an environment where players from Bermuda can come to England, work hard, develop their football and demonstrate what they’re capable of.”
“Ultimately, we would love to see players who have represented Borrowash Victoria go on to secure full-time professional contracts.”
