SEI just got a seat at a very exclusive table. North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc., the CFTC-regulated venue operating as OG.com Markets, certified US dollar-settled perpetual futures on the SEI token on October 8, 2026.
The contracts were expected to list by October 12. That makes SEI one of only five crypto assets with CFTC-regulated perpetual futures on a US platform, alongside BTC, ETH, SOL, and XRP.
How the SEI perpetual futures work
A perpetual futures contract has no expiration date. Traders can hold the position as long as they want, provided they keep up with periodic payments known as funding.
The SEI contracts on OG.com Markets carry no expiration and settle in US dollars against a reference index that tracks the spot price of the SEI token. Nobody actually receives SEI tokens at any point. Traders get dollar exposure to the token’s price moves without needing a wallet, a crypto exchange account, or custody of the asset itself.
Funding on the contracts is calculated every eight hours. Funding payments flow between traders betting on price increases and traders betting on declines, and they exist to keep the contract price anchored close to the underlying spot price.
The minimum order is 100 SEI. With SEI trading between $0.06 and $0.066 in mid-October, that works out to a starting position worth only a few dollars.
The structure lets eligible participants go long or short, which opens the door to both speculation and hedging. A project treasury or a fund holding SEI, for instance, could theoretically use short positions to offset downside risk without selling its tokens.
From Crypto.com spin-off to perpetuals shop
OG.com Markets, formerly known as CDNA, was spun out of Crypto.com in September 2026 in a deal valued at approximately $5 billion. Beyond crypto perpetuals, the exchange has been exploring new lines such as single-stock perpetual futures.
What the listing means for SEI and regulated crypto derivatives
A dollar-settled contract removes some practical friction. Participants who want exposure to SEI, or protection against its price swings, could do so without ever touching the token itself.
SEI moved between $0.06 and $0.066 in mid-October, while activity in the broader perpetual futures market remains limited, with open interest in the tens of millions of dollars.
Open interest measures the total value of contracts still outstanding. A figure in the tens of millions signals a market that exists, though not one that is exactly overflowing with participants.
Trading volume and open interest on the SEI contracts will show whether real demand is forming, and funding rates will reveal which way sentiment is leaning. Consistently positive funding would indicate long positions paying shorts, a sign of bullish crowding. Persistently negative funding would point the other way.
Perpetual futures typically involve leverage, and leverage on a smaller, more volatile token can amplify losses just as quickly as gains.
