WWE SmackDown Results, Winners And Highlights
Trick Williams Def. Johnny Gargano | WWE SmackDown
- WWE SmackDown opened with Sami Zayn calling out all the "vultures" out to challenge him for his WWE Undisputed Championship. Sami congratulated Penta on his Money in the Bank win, but advised him to focus on Roman Reigns.
- Sami Zayn was interrupted by Trick Williams, and the two discussed their viral exchange/apparent shoot headbutt from a couple weeks ago. Sami told Trick he had to get his attention because Trick Williams doesn’t take anything seriously. Johnny Gargano interjected himself and accepted Trick Williams’ challenge on behalf of Sami.
- Johnny Gargano ran wild on Trick Williams and flew to the outside with a suicide dive, earning a hug from Sami Zayn. Trick Williams came back with a flapjack, and Sami criticized Trick for dropping Johnny on his shoulder.
- Fans chanted for Trick Williams and Sami mocked the chants, sarcastically praising Trick’s aura. Williams hit a picture-perfect big boot followed by a fireman’s carry sitout bomb. Gargano kicked out. Candice interfered, leading to a rollup from Johnny for a two-count. Gargano hit a tornado DDT for a two-count.
- Johnny went for a springboard spear through the middle ropes, but Trick caught him with a flying knee on the side of the face. Trick finished off Sami with a Book End for the win. Corey Graves, who joked he was going to go to catering, couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
Match Grade: B
Paige Def. Nikki Bella | WWE SmackDown
- Paige and Nikki brawled and immediately tumbled to the outside. Paige rag-dolled Nikki around the outside with Graves and Vic Joseph on commentary. Commentary talked up Paige and Nikki’s ongoing social media feud.
- Paige teed off on Nikki Bella on the outside while Nikki was trapped in between the apron and the curtain. Nikki cut Paige off with an armbreaker over the top rope.
- Paige battled back with a fisherman’s suplex followed by a German suplex. Paige went for the Paige Turner, but Bella raked her eyes. Paige folded Nikki in half with a belly to back suplex. Paige went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Nikki tripped her up and countered with the STF. This was great storytelling that called back to both Nikki’s relationship with Cena and Paige’s history of neck injury.
- Paige hit an Attitude Adjustment for a nearfall. Fans got behind Paige as she went for the Rampage, but Nikki escaped and dropped Paige with a forearm. Nikki did the New Day clap as a nod to Paige’s relationship with Xavier Woods, and that’s all I’m allowed to say about that. Paige rolled up Nikki for the win. Brilliant.
Match Grade: B+
Damian Priest Def. R-Truth Via Referee Stoppage | WWE SmackDown
- R-Truth began aggressively attacking Damian Priest. Priest cut Truth off and dominated the match. Damian sent Truth flying into the corner, but Truth skinned the cat and pulled himself to the top turnbuckle. Priest sent Truth crashing to the mat, and the WWE officials hit the ring.
- The referee (kayfabe) stopped the match due to Truth’s injury for the anticlimactic finish. Priest went for a steel chair, but Fraxiom ran him off.
- After this match, there was an in-ring segment between Alexa Bliss, Tatum Paxley and Fatal Influence. Alexa Bliss fired up the Sacramento crowd to cheer on Tatum Paxley on her first main roster title. Fans chanted “you deserve it.” The babyfaces sent Charlotte well wishes, but Fatal Influence interrupted and attacked the champions. Bliss and Paxley fought off the heels and stood tall.

- Rey Fenix hit a double-jump hurricanrana to the delight of the Golden 1 Center. Saints shoved Charles Robinson into the ropes, dropping Fenix. Ricky hit Ro Sham Bo and pinned Fenix, but Robinson refused to count.
- Ricky Saints and Robinson argued, prompting Robinson to call for the bell. Fenix won by disqualification in another anticlimactic finish. Saints snapped after the match, putting the boots to Rey Fenix.

Cody Rhodes Def. Baron Corbin By DQ | WWE SmackDown
- Cody Rhodes called Randy Orton out, but Randy was nowhere to be found. Instead, Rhodes was interrupted by Baron Corbin. Corbin laid into Rhodes for not having a killer instinct and how, when Baron returned, he destroyed everybody. Baron said he was going to get back to where he belonged at the expense of Cody. Fans chanted “we want Randy!”
- Cody Rhodes attacked Baron Corbin and dumped him to the outside. With nine minutes left in the show, Cody (in his street clothes) demanded a referee as SmackDown went to its final break.
- SmackDown returned from break, indeed, with Baron Corbin and Cody Rhodes embroiled in a one-on-one match. Rhodes, in a sleeveless t-shirt and joggers, was not dressed to compete. Bothe men took each other out with a double clothesline.
- Rhodes dodged a charging Corbin and caught him in a snap powerslam. Rhodes hit his signature Dusty punches followed by a Bionic Elbow and a Disaster Kick. Randy Orton forced the disqualification by pulling Cody out of the ring and attacking him on the outside.
