Travis Kelce received strong praise from his former teammate Gehrig Dieter after showing his toughness by playing through an ankle injury during the Kansas City Chiefs’ 22-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Kelce raised concerns in the opening minutes of the October 18 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium after being tackled by Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley. The tight end’s leg appeared to get trapped underneath the defender, forcing the veteran player to briefly leave the field while walking with noticeable discomfort.

Dieter, a former Chiefs wide receiver who played alongside Kelce during Kansas City’s Super Bowl LIV championship run, highlighted the veteran tight end’s commitment and competitive mindset.
“Kelce is a dawg! They don’t make ’em like him anymore,” Dieter wrote on X. “Anyone else would be milking that ankle injury.”
Dieter was with the Chiefs from 2017 to 2021 and was part of the roster that won Super Bowl LIV.
His comments came as Kelce continues his 14th NFL season, establishing himself as one of the most dominant tight ends in league history.
