RAWANG: The Tan Sri Low Yow Chuan Golf Championship 2026 attracted 182 golfers, including 60 VIPs, for a 27-hole Stableford competition at Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club (TPGCC) recently.
Held for the second consecutive year, the tournament honours the late Tan Sri Low Yow Chuan (1933–2021), who contributed to Malaysia's property, hospitality and tourism sectors for more than five decades.
Low Yat Group executive director and TPGCC managing director Datuk Low Gee Teong said the tournament reflected the club's ambition to establish itself as a global golfing destination while creating opportunities for the local community and businesses.
"We are not just hosting golf tournaments; we are positioning TPGCC on the global map. We aim to transform the area into a thriving sports hub, with our facilities serving as a catalyst for community growth, family lifestyles and regional business opportunities," he said.
TPGCC general manager Nor Afendi Mohd Razlan said the tournament paid tribute to an industry pioneer, while the club's consecutive wins as Best Public Golf Course and Best Golf Tourism Destination reflected its commitment to delivering an exceptional golfing experience.
In Category A, Suhaimi Yassin emerged champion with 62 points, followed by Mohd Hasrul Firdaus on 61 and Abu Qasim Mohd Salleh on 58.
Mohd Zain Mohd Tahir won Category B on countback after scoring 60 points, edging Sheikh Mohd Basri, who also carded 60 points. Ben Gomez finished third with 58 points.
No golfer managed to win the hole-in-one prizes, which included two Mazda CX-30 cars, Adidas apparel and Batik Air's two business-class tickets.
The tournament also contributed RM10,000 to the Malaysian Red Crescent. Low presented a mock cheque to the organisation's representative, Mohamad Fitri Ahmad Daud, during the prize-giving ceremony.
