Pakistan is entering an important phase in its digital infrastructure development. As businesses expand their reliance on connectivity, digital platforms, cloud services and artificial intelligence, investment decisions are increasingly moving beyond individual technology purchases.
The same trend is visible across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), where organizations are directing significant resources toward data center infrastructure, IT services and cybersecurity. Gartner projects that total IT spending in MEA will reach $169 billion in 2026, up from $155.2 billion in 2025. Data center systems are expected to be the fastest-growing segment, increasing 37.3% to nearly $13 billion in 2026.
At the same time, information security spending across MEA is forecast to reach $4.072 billion in 2026, a 10.1% increase from 2025. Security services alone are expected to account for $1.522 billion.
For CIOs and technology decision-makers, these figures point to a change in priorities. The question is no longer simply how much an organization should spend on infrastructure or security. It is how those investments should fit together, how they should evolve and, perhaps most importantly, who can help make that happen.
Why cybersecurity and data center investment are becoming strategic priorities
The growth of technology spending in MEA reflects several forces converging at the same time. Organizations are adopting artificial intelligence, expanding cloud environments and processing increasing amounts of data, while also dealing with a more demanding cybersecurity environment.
Gartner expects software spending in MEA to grow 13.9% in 2026 to $20.452 billion, while IT services spending is projected to reach $36.894 billion, representing 8.3% growth.
The acceleration in data center spending is particularly significant. Gartner forecasts MEA data center systems spending to increase from $9.455 billion in 2025 to $12.984 billion in 2026. The research attributes much of the momentum to AI-enabled software and AI-optimized infrastructure, particularly the computing resources required for generative AI and machine learning.
This changes the conversation for enterprise IT departments. A data center project is no longer simply about servers, storage and physical capacity. Network architecture, cybersecurity, cloud integration, availability and the ability to support emerging workloads all become part of the same investment decision.
The same applies to cybersecurity. Gartner’s MEA forecast shows security software remaining the largest category, with $1.970 billion in projected spending for 2026, while security services are expected to reach $1.522 billion.
For businesses, that combination creates a practical challenge: technology environments are becoming more sophisticated at exactly the moment when the cost of getting major architecture decisions wrong is increasing.
What Pakistan’s technology investment priorities reveal about the market
Pakistan offers a useful example of how digital infrastructure is becoming a strategic economic issue rather than simply an IT department concern.
The Government of Pakistan’s Public Sector Development Programme for 2025–26 allocates PKR 250 million to the ongoing Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan project. The same IT and telecommunications section of the PSDP allocates PKR 500 million to the National Artificial Intelligence Advancement Initiative, although that project is listed as a new, unapproved scheme.
The broader PSDP allocation also illustrates the scale of the country’s technology agenda. The document includes projects covering technology parks, IT industry development, specialized IT training, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, with total allocations of more than PKR 16.2 billion across the IT and telecommunications portfolio for 2025–26.
These investments matter because infrastructure increasingly determines what businesses can build on top of it. Digital financial services, online platforms, enterprise applications and AI-driven services all depend on reliable networks, computing resources and secure environments.
The private sector is moving in the same direction.
Pakistan’s largest mobile network operator reported that it invested PKR 58.676 billion during FY2025 to expand network capacity, strengthen digital platforms and accelerate its transition into an integrated digital services company. The operator also announced plans for an additional $1 billion investment over three years to strengthen connectivity and prepare its network for the phased introduction of 5G.
The significance of these investments extends beyond telecommunications. When one of Pakistan’s largest digital service providers expands its infrastructure and digital capabilities at this scale, it reflects the increasing importance of the underlying technology ecosystem to the country’s wider digital economy.
Why enterprise infrastructure projects need more than technology vendors
As infrastructure becomes more complex, organizations can easily find themselves managing multiple vendors, platforms and technology layers.
A company may have one provider for networking, another for cybersecurity, another for cloud infrastructure and additional technologies supporting mobility, data centers or digital workplaces. Each solution may be technically strong on its own. The challenge is making all of them work together.
This is where the role of an experienced technology integrator becomes increasingly relevant.
The value of an integrator is not necessarily measured by the number of products it can sell. It comes from understanding the organization’s requirements, evaluating existing investments, designing an appropriate architecture and coordinating the different technologies required to implement it.
That distinction is particularly important in large infrastructure projects, where an architectural decision can remain in place for years.
Beyond Technology operates in this space across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, with regional offices in Dubai and Islamabad. The company describes its regional offering around networking, cybersecurity, cloud and managed services, combining local presence with relationships with global technology providers.
Its professional services model covers consulting, deployment, support and managed services, with an emphasis on evaluating business objectives, existing infrastructure and future growth before recommending technology.
That approach becomes particularly relevant for organizations that do not want each infrastructure project to become an isolated exercise.
How local expertise can make global technology more effective in Pakistan
Global technology providers bring substantial research, engineering capabilities and mature platforms to markets such as Pakistan. But technology still has to be adapted to the requirements of the organization using it.
Beyond Technology’s partner ecosystem includes companies such as HPE, Juniper Networks, Nokia and Corero, alongside other global technology providers.
The importance of that ecosystem is not simply that it gives customers access to different brands. It allows an integrator to build solutions around business requirements rather than forcing every organization into a single technology stack.
The company has also developed a significant example of this approach in Pakistan through its relationship with the country’s largest mobile network operator.
In 2024, ProPakistani reported that Beyond Technology had been selected as the exclusive provider of Juniper Networks solutions for the operator under a three-year agreement covering network infrastructure and AI technologies.
The project illustrates a broader point about enterprise technology investments. A large organization does not simply need access to Juniper, HPE, Nokia or any other global technology platform. It needs technical expertise capable of integrating that technology into an existing environment and supporting the organization through the transition.
That is particularly relevant as infrastructure projects become increasingly interconnected. A network modernization initiative can influence cybersecurity. A data center expansion can affect cloud architecture. An AI project can create new requirements for computing, connectivity and data management.
The boundaries between these projects are becoming less distinct.
The value of having a technology partner beyond the initial deployment
Technology investments are often evaluated at the moment of purchase. But the more important question may be what happens after the equipment has been installed and the project has officially ended.
Infrastructure needs to be monitored, optimized and adapted. Business requirements change. New applications are introduced. Security threats evolve. Teams need additional expertise. Vendors release new capabilities.
Beyond Technology’s professional services model is built around this broader technology lifecycle, from initial consulting and infrastructure assessment through design, deployment, support and managed operations.
For organizations in Pakistan and across MEA, that continuity can reduce one of the most common problems associated with technology transformation: fragmentation.
A business may have the budget to acquire sophisticated infrastructure and still struggle to achieve the expected result if different components are planned independently or if there is no technical partner responsible for connecting the pieces.
The role of the integrator, therefore, is evolving. It is less about being an intermediary between a vendor and a customer and more about becoming an extension of the customer’s technology team.
Pakistan’s opportunity goes beyond buying more technology
The figures from MEA and the investments already taking place in Pakistan point in the same direction. Digital infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important part of business strategy.
Gartner’s forecast of almost $13 billion in MEA data center systems spending in 2026 and more than $4 billion in information security spending illustrates the scale of the transformation.
Pakistan’s own public and private investments reinforce that direction, from cybersecurity and artificial intelligence initiatives in the government’s development program to major investments by the country’s largest mobile network operator.
The challenge now is making those investments work together.
For CIOs, CTOs and IT leaders, choosing an infrastructure partner is therefore becoming a strategic decision. The right partner should understand the business context, work across multiple technologies, protect existing investments and remain involved after deployment.
This is the role Beyond Technology is positioning itself to play across Pakistan and the broader MEA region: connecting global technology capabilities with local expertise and supporting organizations throughout the technology lifecycle.
As the region invests more heavily in cybersecurity, data centers, networks and AI-ready infrastructure, the organizations that gain the most may not simply be those that spend more. They may be those that have the right partner beside them when it is time to decide where, how and why to invest.
