It said it is monitoring pre-election activities and would continue to do so on election day and afterwards. It coordinates the work of lower public prosecutor's offices in its jurisdiction to ensure lawful and consistent handling of potential criminal offences against electoral rights.
A statement said it would work with police to ensure the voting is peaceful and that reports of possible election irregularities are handled as quickly as possible.
It also called on all political players to respect the will of the electorate and refrain from anticipating election results before the official final results are announced.
The prosecutor’s office warned that the authorities would respond to any attempt to disrupt public order or acts of violence before, during or after the election, and urged the public to refrain from violence and respect the law.
