The Federal Investigation Agency’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi conducted two successful operations against human trafficking and immigration fraud, exposing fake visa scams involving Canada and Bahrain and recovering a total of Rs19 lakh for affected citizens.
According to a detailed statement issued by the FIA spokesperson, the first operation concerned Canadian immigration fraud.
A fraudulent immigration consultant allegedly took Rs11 million from a citizen, Ajmal Khan, by promising assistance in obtaining Canadian immigration and a work visa.
When the fraud came to light, the victim immediately approached the FIA. The Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi’s investigation team promptly launched an inquiry and used professional methods to pressure the suspect.
As a result, the entire amount was recovered and handed back to Ajmal Khan.
The timely action provided significant financial relief to the victim and demonstrated the FIA’s commitment to protecting the rights and interests of complainants. The spokesperson further said that FIA Karachi’s second major operation led to the arrest of another network allegedly involved in human trafficking.
The central accused, Yaseen Khan, was arrested in a human trafficking case and booked under Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants Act, 2018.
Initial investigations and records revealed that the suspect had falsely promised a citizen an attractive work visa for Bahrain.
A total payment of Rs800,000 was agreed for the purpose, and the suspect had already received Rs520,000 in advance for providing the visa.
However, after serious legal doubts emerged regarding the visa and travel documents, timely action was taken to prevent the victim from travelling further. The matter was then referred to Anti-Human Trafficking Circle officials for complete legal proceedings. The FIA investigation team continues to search for other elements involved in the network and conduct a deeper investigation into all aspects of the case.
