The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recovered Rs. 2.1 million from Nauman, the main suspect in the case involving Laiba Ejaz, who died by suicide after being defrauded over a promised admission to Harvard University in the United States.
According to FIA sources, investigators are obtaining Nauman’s records from relevant departments. The Islamabad Excise Department has no record of him, while police records show that he is a proclaimed offender in a fraud case in Mansehra.
Authorities will hand Nauman over to Mansehra police after completing the recovery process, FIA sources said.
Nauman, along with Fatima Sarwar and Aiza, defrauded Laiba by providing fake admission documents and promising her admission and a scholarship at Harvard University.
According to the FIR, the suspects took Rs. 9.3 million from Laiba Ejaz in exchange for a US visa and scholarship. They also gave her fake scholarship documents, university offer letters, and fee receipts.
