For those paying attention, or guzzling that bitter Arch Manning-to-NFL-hell-yeah juice, the prince of the Manning dynasty has been slipping when it comes to his potential draft stock.
The big debate is whether Manning should stay another year at Texas or if he should yeet caution into the wind and enter the 2027 NFL Draft.
Through six games, Manning has thrown for 1,295 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions and has lost back-to-back games. First to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, 27-24, and then to Florida, 27-24 yet again.
So professionals have been speaking up, saying that it would be best for the starting quarterback to look into staying another year with the Longhorns. While others are offering up different advice for his current slump: Think about a different school.
Former NFL quarterback and current football analyst Dan Orlovsky took to X to give a little advice for Manning.
“Arch should definitely go back to school (as of right now) and definitely not at Texas,” he posted on Tuesday.
This isn’t a shocker. On Monday’s “CBS College Football Show,” sports writer Pete Prisco also suggested that Manning should ditch Texas in order to distance himself from Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian, advice that Orlovsky was subtly going for.
“If Arch goes back to school, and the reality is he probably should go back to school, I don’t think he should go back to Texas if Sark is the coach,” Prisco said. “I think he needs to go somewhere else and find out what it’s like in a different system to be able to play. I don’t think, for whatever reason, it’s not working in this system. And if he goes somewhere else, and he stinks, then we know it’s him. If he goes somewhere else and he’s really good, then we know there was a major problem with the Texas system.”
Former NFL running back and fellow CBS analyst Ran Carthon had a suggestion: “In that scenario, Arch Manning to Miami.”
Carthon believes that the ACC’s Miami Hurricanes would be the best landing spot for Manning.
“Miami has shown over the last couple of years that they have been a quote-on-quote farm system for these quarterbacks. You had Cam Ward. You had Carson Beck revitalize his career last year. We see what Darian Mensah is doing.”
