Riyadh – The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) extended the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Monday, following the attacks that targeted it.
GACA stated in a press release that the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been extended "to complete the necessary procedures to verify the safety and operational readiness of the airport's facilities," without specifying a date for resuming operations.
Meanwhile, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) urged airlines to exercise caution when traveling to or transiting Saudi airspace due to risks associated with military activity and interference with navigation systems.
The FAA's advisory, which remains in effect until December 10, follows the attacks that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday and Sunday, which resulted in the deaths of 13 people and injuries to more than 300, followed by a second attack on Sunday that left one dead and 11 injured, according to Saudi authorities.
The administration stated, "These threats may pose a potential danger to aircraft at all altitudes, including during flights over Saudi airspace and during arrival and departure phases," warning of "a potentially dangerous situation."
The notice also applies to operators of aircraft registered in the United States.
