PUTRAJAYA: KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services remain disrupted following two cable thefts along the rail corridor, with trains operating on a combined service every 20 minutes in both directions, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) said.
The services were disrupted this morning after two incidents involving stolen signalling cables.
ERL said the first incident, involving 180m of signalling cable (two 90m lengths), was detected at about 9pm on Sunday between Putrajaya and Cyberjaya station and Salak Tinggi station (KM44).
While restoration works were under way, a second act of vandalism was discovered at KM42 at 5.22am today, involving the theft of 80m of signalling cable (two 40m lengths).
"These incidents have extended restoration works and disrupted normal train operations," ERL said in a statement.
"Our technical teams are currently working to restore the system safely and as quickly as possible," it said.
Earlier, the operator said on Facebook that a combined train service would remain in effect until further notice, with trains running every 20 minutes from both KL Sentral and KLIA Terminal 2, stopping at all stations.
ERL said shuttle services were initially introduced, requiring passengers travelling to KL Sentral or KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to change trains at Putrajaya and Cyberjaya station.
Trains ran at 15-minute intervals from 8.55am between KL Sentral and Putrajaya and Cyberjaya station, and from 9.05am between KLIA Terminal 2 and the same station.
Services have since resumed as a combined service, running every 20 minutes in both directions from 11.20am.
Passengers were advised to check with station personnel for the latest updates and assistance, and to allow additional travel time. ERL apologised for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding.
