The No. 20 Gophers men’s hockey team ended its three-game losing streak to open the season with a 2-2 overtime draw at No. 9 Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday night.
Minnesota found itself on the short end of a 2-0 deficit less than five minutes into the second period, but rallied back on a pair of goals from Brodie Ziemer to force the added interval.
However, overtime could not settle matters as the game goes in the books as a 2-2 tie.
The visitors did claim bragging rights for the game by winning a shootout 2-1.
Gophers goaltender Luca Di Pasquo made 34 saves to secure the draw, while his teammates mustered up just 18 shots in the game.
Minnesota improved to 0-3-1 with the tie, as UMD’s record is 3-1-2.
