The move expands wallet-based infrastructure for autonomous AI transactions on the XRP Ledger, as usage volume crosses a new milestone.
Ripple has added wallet technology owned by Stripe to the XRP Ledger, according to reporting from CoinDesk and BeInCrypto. The integration is designed to support payments initiated by artificial intelligence agents operating without direct human input at the point of transaction.
Alongside the integration, Ripple disclosed that AI-related payment activity on the XRP Ledger has passed 14 million transactions. The figure marks a notable usage threshold for a blockchain network that has increasingly positioned itself around enterprise payment use cases rather than retail speculation alone.
Wallet-based AI agent payments refer to a model where software agents hold and transact digital assets through dedicated wallet infrastructure. This structure allows an AI system to send or receive funds as part of an automated workflow, without a human manually approving every transfer. Proponents argue this approach is becoming more relevant as businesses deploy AI tools for procurement, settlement, and other recurring financial tasks.
Stripe's ownership of the wallet technology being integrated ties the development to one of the largest private payment processors in the world. Stripe has expanded its footprint in crypto-adjacent infrastructure in recent periods, acquiring companies focused on stablecoin and wallet services. Its wallet products are now being connected to the XRP Ledger, a network that Ripple has long promoted for cross-border settlement and, more recently, for broader payment infrastructure roles.
The pairing of established fintech wallet infrastructure with a public blockchain reflects a broader industry trend. Payment companies and blockchain networks have been working to make digital asset rails usable for automated, machine-driven transactions, not just transfers initiated by people. AI agents that can autonomously pay for data, compute resources, or services are frequently cited as a use case driving this kind of infrastructure build-out.
Ripple has not publicly detailed the full technical scope of the wallet integration beyond what has been reported. Neither CoinDesk nor BeInCrypto provided additional specifics on transaction volume breakdowns, participating merchants, or timelines for broader rollout. The 14 million figure for AI payments has been described as a cumulative count, though the precise measurement period was not specified in available reporting.
The development comes as Ripple continues to build out XRP Ledger's role beyond its original cross-border remittance use case. The company has in recent periods pursued partnerships and product expansions aimed at institutional payment flows, custody services, and now agentic AI commerce.
Market Impact
News of the Stripe-linked wallet integration and the 14 million AI payment milestone may reinforce the XRP Ledger's positioning as infrastructure for enterprise and automated payment use cases. Market participants often view adoption-focused announcements involving established payment companies as a signal of broader utility beyond trading activity.
Any direct effect on XRP's price was not specified in the available reporting, and no financial projections were provided by either source. Readers should treat the development as an infrastructure and partnership update rather than a market-moving catalyst with a defined price outcome.
The integration underscores Ripple's continued push to position the XRP Ledger as a settlement layer for emerging AI-driven payment workflows, with further details on scope and adoption likely to emerge as the project develops.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Stripe wallet integration actually do?
It connects wallet infrastructure owned by Stripe to the XRP Ledger, enabling payments to be initiated and processed through that wallet technology on Ripple's network.
What are AI agent payments?
These are transactions initiated by automated AI software rather than a human directly approving each transfer, typically through dedicated wallet infrastructure built for that purpose.
What does the 14 million figure refer to?
According to reporting from CoinDesk and BeInCrypto, it represents the cumulative count of AI-related payment transactions processed on the XRP Ledger, though the exact measurement period was not detailed.
Is Stripe building its own blockchain network for this?
No. Based on available reporting, Stripe's wallet technology is being integrated into the existing XRP Ledger rather than a separate network built by Stripe.
Update 14 Oct 2026, 05:44 UTC · added by Crypto News Australia
Crypto News Australia identifies the Stripe-owned partner as Privy and reports the integration was announced on Tuesday. It adds that developers will be able to create and manage the wallets through Privy and sign transactions using its infrastructure, with the wallets supporting XRP, Ripple USD (RLUSD) and other tokens.
