With his 20th and 21st UCL goals for BVB, the 30-year-old striker from Guinea led his side to a 2-1 away win over Sabah FC. On the opening netter, he was in the right place at the right time, tapping home a rebound. Then, for the game winner, he displayed perfect timing and technique. After the final whistle, Joey Veerman, who had served up the cross on the play, marveled at his teammate's attacking instincts, saying, “Even though there are always two players marking him, he’s really dangerous on crosses. He’s a truly great striker for us.”
Guirassy's stats prove the point. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, only Bayern München's Harry Kane (28 goals) and Kylian Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé (24) have scored more goals in the UEFA Champions League than Serhou Guirassy (21)., who ranks above Manchester City's Erling Haaland (20) and PSG's Ousmane Dembélé (19).
Guirassy, who once again shined as Borussia’s match winner, offered up a no-nonsense analysis. “If you want to win a game, you have to score goals," he said, "and that’s exactly what we did. Of course, we could have scored even more goals today, but ultimately we’re pleased with the win.”Boris Rupert
