Opposition March To Supreme Court: Delhi Metro Shuts Stations, Security Stepped Up
Opposition leaders from the INDIA bloc are scheduled to hold a march to the Supreme Court from Barakhamba Road in Delhi. The demonstration, announced by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, demands the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, a halt to the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, and an end to alleged electoral malpractice. Sources indicate that the Chief Justice of India declined a meeting with the opposition delegation, noting that the issues raised are already under judicial consideration and that administrative interference is outside the court's remit. Security arrangements have been intensified across central Delhi, with entry and exit gates at six Delhi Metro stations—including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Patel Chowk—closed from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have set up barricades and traffic diversions around Mandi House, Connaught Place, and roads leading to the Supreme Court, with section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita imposed in surrounding areas.
