The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 21 chairmanship positions and 239 councillorship seats contested in the Kogi State local government elections.
The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Mamman Eri, announced the results at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja, confirming the ruling party’s victory across all contested positions.
The election was conducted across 239 wards and 3,508 polling units in the state. However, voter turnout differed across locations visited by TVC News.
Following the announcement, Eri commended security personnel, election observers, ad hoc workers and other stakeholders for their roles during the exercise.
He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting elections in line with democratic standards.
Meanwhile, civil society groups welcomed the peaceful conduct of the polls but called for stronger voter education and greater transparency in future elections.
The groups also urged KOSIEC to address concerns associated with previous electoral exercises and take measures to improve public confidence in the state’s electoral process.
