Moving $20,000 between two subsidiaries of the same company should be quick. With a traditional bank wire, it usually eats most of an afternoon.
Hyundai Card, the financial services arm of the Hyundai Motor Group, recently tried a different route. Using Axiym Finance’s infrastructure on the Avalanche blockchain, it cut the transfer time for an intercompany payment by more than 96%.
The pilot ran on July 9, 2026. It moved $20,000 in USDT, Tether’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, from Hyundai’s US subsidiary to its Mexican subsidiary. The whole process took roughly seven minutes.
A comparable bank wire typically needs three to four hours.
Seven minutes versus a few hours
Axiym converted dollars into USDT, sent the stablecoin across Avalanche, and handled the move back out of crypto on the other end.
The settlement ran on Avalanche’s C-Chain, where Axiym set up the liquidity and settlement framework for the transfer. The pilot included four parties: Hyundai Card, Tether, Avalanche, and Axiym.
The research findings describe it as the first public use of a production-ready stablecoin treasury settlement by a major South Korean conglomerate on Avalanche.
A recent Avalanche update pointed to the result directly. It credited Axiym’s tools with saving Hyundai more than 96% of the usual transfer time.
Who is Axiym, and why the plumbing matters
Axiym describes its business as liquidity-as-a-service. Companies that send money across borders often keep funds parked in accounts in each country so payments can settle. That money sits idle instead of working.
Axiym says its model cuts that capital lockup by 70–90%.
The Hyundai pilot also fits a wider growth pattern at Axiym. The platform reported cumulative stablecoin payment volume above $2 billion as of October 2026, a 4.4 times increase year over year.
Its third quarter of 2026 set a record, with $529 million in payment volume.
Background: stablecoins move into the treasury office
Intercompany payments are a natural testing ground for stablecoins. Both sides belong to the same corporate family, so counterparty risk is minimal and the stakes of a hiccup stay contained.
Tether’s participation means the stablecoin issuer was involved directly, not merely acting as a background asset.
What this means for corporate treasuries and the stablecoin market
The clearest takeaway is for multinational finance teams. If a seven-minute settlement is possible for a $20,000 internal transfer, the obvious next question is what happens at larger sizes and across more currency corridors.
The 70–90% reduction in capital lockup that Axiym claims could be the bigger draw for chief financial officers, because idle cash carries a cost even when nobody sees a fee line.
Moving treasury flows onto stablecoins introduces exposure to the issuer, to the blockchain’s reliability, and to regulators in every jurisdiction the money touches. The pilot does not resolve those questions. It shows that, for at least one cross-border corridor, the technology performed as advertised.
