The Golden State Warriors erased a big deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game in Las Vegas, but one of the night’s most memorable moments had nothing to do with the scoreboard. Steve Kerr came face to face with his doppelganger.
A video from Tuesday night’s game at T-Mobile Arena has since gone viral, showing the Warriors head coach doing a double take after spotting a man who bears a striking resemblance to him. Kerr was in the middle of his coaching duties when he noticed the lookalike and stared at him for several seconds before the two locked eyes.

The man is Steve Gillis, a high school English teacher from Las Vegas. It is not the first time Gillis has caught the internet’s attention for looking like the Warriors coach. He first went viral after attending a Golden State game in 2024, which prompted Kerr to address the resemblance at the time.
“I just thought he was strikingly handsome,” Kerr joked back then, per FOX Sports.
This time, the reaction came in real time. The clip, shared by Polymarket Hoops, shows Kerr sizing up Gillis, who is dressed in dark clothing with silver hair and a similar build, before the two share a long look.
As for the game itself, the Warriors came out on top. Golden State rallied from a 20-point second-half deficit to beat the Lakers 101-89.
Brandin Podziemski and Yaxel Lendeborg each scored 17 points to lead the Warriors. Lendeborg also chipped in five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 26 minutes. Stephen Curry added 11 points in 23 minutes, knocking down three 3-pointers.
Austin Reaves led all scorers with 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting for the Lakers, adding seven assists. Walker Kessler posted 11 points and nine rebounds. Luka Doncic did not play for Los Angeles, while Draymond Green sat out for Golden State.
The Warriors will look to carry that momentum into the regular season, but for now, the comeback may be overshadowed by Kerr’s encounter with his twin.
Given that Gillis lives in Las Vegas and has now turned up at two Warriors games, it might not be the last time Kerr gets a look at himself from across the arena.
