It has not been a good postseason for the slumping Shohei Ohtani, and now he’s been pushed down the Los Angeles Dodgers’ batting lineup for Game 3 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
Now batting sixth, it’s the lowest that Ohtani as a designated hitter has batted in the lineup since joining the Dodgers and professionals have a lot of big thoughts, even though the left-handed batter has said he’s ready to roll.
“Shohei’s all on board,” LA’s manager Dave Roberts said prior to the game, according to ESPN.
Now, Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz shares his thoughts on the Dodgers’ golden boy.
“Look, I love Ohtani,” Big Papi started when giving his opinion during Fox Sports pregame program. “Ohtani is the one guy that everyone comes to the field to see. I don’t know how bad his injuries are, but I would not play him – let me tell you why.”

Ortiz goes on to say that as a batter, he’s a caliber and that he can strongly hit, but at this point in time, he’s unsure what Ohtani is capable of hitting during his slump.
“That’s why I would not play him at this moment,” he continued. “And remember, the team needs his presence, but the same time get affected because the rest of the squad is expecting him to come through.”
Ohtani is hitting .150 over six postseason games, which is 3-for-20, has seven strikeouts, three walks and a stolen base. He has no homers, no RBIs and an OPS of .411.
