Long-range strike drones struck the “Avisma” titanium and chemical-metallurgical plant in the city of Berezniki in Russia’s Perm region overnight into Sunday, Oct. 25, targeting one of the world’s largest titanium production facilities, The Moscow Times and independent monitoring groups reported.
The enterprise operates as a subsidiary production division of VSMPO-Avisma Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of titanium sponge, specialized titanium alloys, and raw magnesium.

Perm Region Governor Dmitry Makhonin acknowledged the aerial incursion on Sunday, stating that an industrial enterprise situated in the northern sector of the province sustained “minor damage” following an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Makhonin claimed that the damaged facility continues to operate under standard routines and reported no casualties.
However, Ukrainian open-source intelligence (OSINT) monitoring channel Exilenova+ reported that the drone strikes engaged the production grounds of the Avisma chemical-metallurgical facility in Berezniki.
Local residents similarly reported hearing multiple drone engines followed by detonations and the sound of air defense engagements in the vicinity of the plant’s industrial perimeter.
Strategic defense metallurgy and aerospace components
The Berezniki metallurgical complex functions as an irreplaceable industrial node within the Russian Federation’s defense-industrial supply chain.

Russia Launche 1,600 Bombs and 2,300 Drones Over Past Week
Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday, Oct. 25, that Russia fired 1,600 bombs, 2,300 drones, and 48 missiles in the past week, damaging sites in nine regions, as he urged Patriot deliveries.
Avisma specializes in the chemical processing of ilmenite ore into titanium tetrachloride and the subsequent thermal reduction of titanium sponge, alongside refining metallic magnesium and magnesium-based master alloys.
The refined titanium sponge and intermediate billets produced at Berezniki are transported to VSMPO’s primary smelting and mechanical processing facilities in Verkhnyaya Salda, Sverdlovsk region, to manufacture high-strength forgings, rolled sheets, and structural sub-assemblies.
The enterprise’s titanium alloys are critical structural materials utilized across Russian aerospace manufacturing, combat aviation, jet engine production, and missile systems.
Components fabricated from Avisma’s metals are integrated into fuselage airframes and turbine components for Su-35 and Su-57 fighter aircraft, fuselage mountings for tactical bombers, heavy armor assemblies, and missile airframes for cruise and ballistic platforms.
Beyond conventional defense hardware, specialized titanium castings and corrosion-resistant alloys from VSMPO-Avisma are supplied directly to Roscosmos for space rocket propulsion casings and to naval shipyards constructing nuclear-powered submarines.
Deep-tier asymmetric campaign against defense suppliers
The strike in Berezniki – located approximately 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) from Ukrainian borders in the Ural Mountains – forms part of an expanding Ukrainian asymmetric campaign systematically targeting Russia’s deep-rear defense metallurgy and strategic chemical supply lines.
The incident in Perm region coincides with long-range drone strikes conducted across Siberia on Saturday, where unmanned platforms struck the Omsky Kauchuk chemical enterprise in Omsk – over 2,500 kilometers from Ukraine – igniting a large-scale blaze at a facility supplying synthetic rubbers and chemical binders used in solid rocket propellant for Iskander-M and intercontinental ballistic missile platforms.
Concurrently overnight into Sunday, Ukrainian strike drones engaged industrial and logistics infrastructure in central Belgorod, damaging the closed MegaGRINN commercial facility, while previous precision missile and drone interdictions hit the Proton defense microelectronics plant in Oryol and the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant in Samara region.
