Three key suspects in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff's car were brought to Mumbai from Kota, Rajasthan, early Wednesday morning, police reported.
Police brought them by road from Kota to Mumbai and, on arrival, immediately took them to GT Hospital for a mandatory medical examination, an official said.
After the medical check-up, police escorted the accused to the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) office for interrogation.
According to the official, the three have been identified as Rehan alias Sukka, from Sonipat in Haryana; Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai in Bihar and living in Mumbai; and Phool Singh from Haryana.
After Kota police handed the suspects over, Mumbai Police formally arrested them and secured transit remand from a local magistrate to transport them to Mumbai.
Meanwhile, advocate Ajinkya Mirgal arrived at the Mumbai AEC office on Wednesday morning to announce he would represent the accused as defense counsel.
The incident unfolded on Sunday evening when at least two men on a motorcycle opened fire on Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai’s Juhu area before speeding away. While the actor escaped largely unhurt, his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
According to Mumbai Police, the attackers discharged five to six rounds at the vehicle, later abandoning their getaway motorcycle in Andheri. Following the shooting, the suspects fled to Surat, boarded a Jaipur-bound train, and planned to catch a bus to Delhi before ultimately escaping to Nepal.
The Mumbai Police have registered a case under the provisions of attempt to murder and the Arms Act.
Police stated that Rehan was in contact with Anil Pandit, an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which claimed responsibility for the attack via an unverified social media post.
On Tuesday, Delhi Police Special Cell arrested four people, including two women, suspecting they acted on instructions from overseas gangster Anil Pandit. The suspects – Kunal (21), Sumit (19), Radha (23), and Babita (23) – were picked up in coordinated operations across Delhi and Haryana.
Police stated that Kunal, accompanied by Sumit, collected a pistol and 20 rounds from Amritsar on Anil Pandit's orders, while Radha and Babita allegedly transported the firearm to Mumbai.
Following the arrests, police stated that while the motive is still being ascertained, the manner of the attack suggests the assailants intended to kill Shroff.
