CHINESE singer-songwriter Jay Chou has been appointed vivo’s Imaging Ambassador ahead of the launch of the vivo X500 Series in Malaysia on Oct 27.
The collaboration features the vivo X500 Pro Max and brings together the Mandopop star’s interest in visual storytelling with the smartphone brand’s focus on mobile photography and videography.
Beyond his music career, Chou has explored photography and directed music videos, developing an interest in using visuals to express creative ideas.
The partnership includes an unboxing video featuring the X500 Pro Max, a campaign film revisiting his song “晴天” (Sunny Day) through a reimagined storyline, and a travel film documenting new experiences.
The upcoming X500 Series comprises the X500 Pro Max, X500 Pro and X500, with vivo positioning the range as a device line-up suited to concert photography and videography.
The X500 Pro Max features a 200-megapixel ZEISS APO telephoto zoom camera and a 400mm-equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, which the company says are designed to capture performers and stage details from a distance.

It also features Auto Framing Fancam Video, which is designed to keep subjects within the frame, and Super Stage AF Tracking Video to help maintain focus on performers as they move across the stage.
Vivo said the features were developed to help users record live performances and preserve details that might otherwise be difficult to capture from a distance.
Ahead of the launch, the company is offering pre-order benefits with a stated total value of up to RM4,300.
The package includes a rebate of up to RM1,000, vivo Store member benefits worth up to RM2,460 for members who log in, and an additional RM150 SPayLater rebate.
Customers who purchase the phone will also have a chance to win concert tickets to Chou’s Carnival II World Tour 2027 in Malaysia, according to vivo.
