Ssangyong C&E is moving its headquarters to Donghae, Gangwon State, the site of its Donghae plant. The company is also transferring its environment business division to the Yeongwol plant, establishing a multi-base operating structure.
Ssangyong C&E said on the 15th that it held an extraordinary shareholders meeting at its Seoul headquarters on the 14th and approved a change to its articles of incorporation, shifting the registered head office address from Seoul to Donghae, Gangwon State. Headquarters operations will be carried out at the Donghae plant starting in December.
The company said the move is intended to respond more actively to rapidly changing market conditions, including the downturn in the construction sector. It aims to improve on-site responsiveness and speed up decision-making by redistributing management support and environment business functions around Donghae and Yeongwol, where its production plants are located, and to strengthen the efficiency of production and logistics operations.
Specifically, management support functions such as planning, accounting, administration and audit will move to the Donghae plant. The environment business division, which the company considers a new growth driver, will relocate to the Yeongwol plant, reinforcing each division's functions under a multi-base format. Sales, finance and IT functions, which require close coordination with customers in the Seoul metropolitan area, will remain at the current Seoul office.
An official at Ssangyong C&E said the change is "an innovation in our management structure aimed at strengthening the link between production sites and management functions to boost the company's competitiveness." The official added, "As a hometown company representing the Gangwon region, we will strengthen cooperation with local communities and actively fulfill our social responsibilities, including expanding the hiring of local talent."
