THE RUNDOWN
- On October 24, Taylor Swift will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album’s release.
- The singer made a subtle change to her website ahead of the milestone.
- She has been wearing the album’s color, light green, throughout the year, fueling rumors that she may release a rerecorded version soon.
Tomorrow marks 20 years since Taylor Swift released her self-titled debut album on Oct. 24, 2006. The singer hasn’t posted anything on social media yet for the celebration, but she already made a subtle change to her website to honor the milestone.
On its page for her debut album, there are now confetti and a “20 years of Taylor Swift” message that appears alongside photos of her from every album era.
While some fans theorize that Swift could be gearing up to release the Taylor’s Version of the album, the singer hasn’t announced any new projects yet. She did just drop The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the deluxe edition of her last album, on September 25. It had four new tracks.
Swift has been subtly nodding to her debut era throughout the year by regularly wearing the album’s signature color. The singer has been seen in light green at several events, including her first red carpet of the year, the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. The sightings have fans convinced the color may be an Easter egg hinting at her next project.

When Swift bought back her first six albums’ masters, she wrote in a letter about how she already rerecorded her self-titled debut.
“I’ve already completely rerecorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now,” she told fans. “Those two albums [my self-titled debut and Reputation, which did not have Taylor’s Versions released] can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about. But if it happens, it won’t be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now.”
Swift could easily share more news about the album’s anniversary tomorrow. This post will be updated with any new announcements.
