United Airlines will launch nonstop service between Chicago and Bermuda starting in April 2027, the BTA has announced.
A BTA spokesperson said, “United Airlines has introduced nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport [ORD] and Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport [BDA] beginning April 3, 2027, establishing a new direct connection between the island and one of the United States’ major travel markets.
“The service will operate weekly on Saturdays aboard Boeing 737 aircraft, complementing United’s existing Newark/New York–Bermuda route. Flights opened for booking on October 22.
“As a major United Airlines hub, Chicago O’Hare provides connections to cities across the Midwest and beyond. The new route will give travellers from the Chicago area a nonstop option while making Bermuda accessible through United’s wider network.”
“The introduction of nonstop service from Chicago represents an important step in expanding Bermuda’s reach within the U.S. market,” said Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport Owen Darrell. “Each new gateway gives us an opportunity to introduce our island to more travellers, strengthen our tourism industry and support the businesses and people who depend on it. We welcome United’s continued commitment to Bermuda and look forward to building on this important connection.”
“We’re excited to add nonstop service between Chicago and Bermuda, giving customers across the Midwest a convenient new way to experience the island,” said Tom Kozlowski, Senior Manager of Latin America, Caribbean and Hawaii Planning at United. “This new service builds on our existing connection through Newark/New York and makes it easier for travellers from Chicago and beyond to plan a visit to Bermuda.”
For the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the announcement also “marks the beginning of preparations to promote the new route and build interest in Bermuda ahead of its April launch.”
“A new air route creates an opportunity, but what we do with that opportunity matters just as much,” said Jan Hutton, Chief Executive Officer of the Bermuda Tourism Authority. “Chicago gives us access to a significant travel market and, through United’s wider network, the potential to reach travellers well beyond the city itself. Our focus now is on building awareness, working with our industry partners and giving travellers compelling reasons to choose Bermuda. That’s how we turn new connectivity into lasting value for the island.”
“Strong, long-term airline partnerships are essential to Bermuda’s continued growth,” said William “Billy” Griffith, Chairman of the Air Service Development Committee. “United’s new Chicago service strengthens our connection to the Midwest while opening new opportunities to introduce travellers from across the western United States to our extraordinary island. We look forward to building on this valued partnership in the years ahead.”
“Flights are now available for booking at united.com, with service beginning April 3, 2027.
