Additional Inspector General of Police – Karachi Azad Khan on Wednesday visited Malir District Headquarters to review the deployment and performance of the Shaheen Force and inaugurated a police post in Sohrab Goth. According to a Karachi Police spokesperson, DIGP East and SSP Malir were also present during the visit, where the SSP Malir briefed the police chief on the force’s deployment, performance, patrolling and measures to prevent crime.
Inspecting the control room, Azad Khan described the Shaheen Force as Karachi Police’s frontline unit against street crime.
Addressing its personnel, he directed them to maintain physical fitness, discipline and professional competence, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure prompt and effective measures to protect citizens.
He announced that the “Shaheen of the Month” award and a cash prize would be given each month to recognise and encourage outstanding performers.
Later, accompanied by DIGP East, the additional IG inaugurated the Zaman Shaheed Police Post near Jamali Bridge in Sohrab Goth. The facility has been established with the support of the Sohrab Goth Builders Community.
Azad Khan said the police post would strengthen police presence in the area, improve response times and help prevent crime.
He added that effective deployment and patrolling by the Shaheen Force would also help protect citizens at locations where traffic congestion made access for police mobile vans difficult. The ceremony concluded with an exchange of shields among the officers.
