Traffic is extremely heavy at the Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo border crossings for trucks exiting Bulgaria towards Türkiye, Border Police reported. Traffic is normal at all other border checkpoints and crossings with Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia and Romania.
Traffic towards Sofia on the Struma Motorway is restricted to one lane at kilometres 160 and 166 due to repairs to expansion joints. Due to scheduled roadworks on the Hemus Motorway, traffic remains restricted to one carriageway at the Topli Dol tunnel, near Shumen, and between Ignatievo and the Airport junction, the Road Infrastructure Agency reported.
Twenty-six people were injured in 19 serious road accidents across the country over the past 24 hours, Traffic Police reported. Since the beginning of the month, 26 people have died and 409 have been injured in road accidents.
