The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) PLC has launched a month-long cybersecurity awareness campaign throughout October to strengthen digital security among its employees and Trading Right Entitlement Certificate (TREC) holders.
For the first time, the country's premier bourse is observing Cybersecurity Awareness Month through a dedicated initiative aimed at curbing online fraud, promoting secure digital operations and strengthening responsibility for data protection across the capital market.
As part of the campaign, the DSE premises have been decorated with awareness banners and festoons, while employee workstations feature customised desktop wallpapers with security guidelines. The campaign focuses on helping market participants identify and mitigate cyber risks, including suspicious emails, phishing links and malicious software.
The bourse is also conducting interactive online training sessions via Zoom for TREC holders, grouping participants according to their operational needs. An online quiz competition has been launched to assess their cybersecurity knowledge, with top performers set to receive recognition.
TREC holders demonstrating strong cybersecurity compliance will receive certificates at the DSE's regular "Meet and Greet" event to encourage proactive security measures at brokerage houses.
The campaign is being implemented through collaboration among several DSE departments. The Information Security Section (ISS) is leading the initiative by developing training modules, preparing awareness materials and coordinating the quiz competition, with support from the IT infrastructure, network, public relations and publications departments, and the Office of the Managing Director.
DSE authorities said technical safeguards alone were not enough to protect a technology-driven capital market, stressing that user awareness and responsible digital behaviour are equally important. The bourse expects the initiative to strengthen cybersecurity awareness among stakeholders and help build a secure, reliable and resilient digital stock exchange.
