Kyaddondo County Chief Hajj Ahmed Matovu Magandaazi has urged parents to instil good morals in boys, warning that neglecting their upbringing can contribute to irresponsible behaviour among men.
Kyaddondo County Chief Hajj Ahmed Matovu Magandaazi has urged parents to take greater responsibility for raising boys with good morals, saying proper upbringing is essential to nurturing responsible men.
Magandaazi made the remarks at Kyaddondo County headquarters in Kasangati while launching Bright Stars Women Group, an association of widows seeking to improve their livelihoods through collective initiatives.
He expressed concern that some parents were neglecting their responsibilities, warning that inadequate guidance during childhood could contribute to men abandoning their family and social responsibilities.
“Parents should not neglect their responsibility of raising boys. They must guide them and instil good morals so that they grow up into responsible men who can contribute positively to society,” Magandaazi said.
He called on women to pay particular attention to raising boys, emphasising the importance of instilling values that would enable them to become responsible citizens and contribute positively to national development.
Magandaazi also commended members of Bright Stars Women Group for their determination to overcome challenges and improve their social and economic well-being despite the difficulties they face as widows.
Omuzana Agnes Kimbugwe, head of the Kyaddondo women's affairs department, said plans were underway to support and empower the women through programmes designed to improve their livelihoods.
“We have started putting in place programmes aimed at developing and empowering these women so that they can improve their lives,” Kimbugwe said.
Bright Stars Women Group chairperson Nansubuga Harriet Magulu said the association intended to begin purchasing shares through a savings and cooperative initiative established by its members.
She said the initiative would help members build financial security, strengthen their economic prospects and improve their livelihoods through collective savings and investment.
