A butcher, Selim Ayodele, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Ibrahim Wasiu, to death after a misunderstanding over sweeping of the floor at their cow meat-selling outlet in Alagbole, Ogun State.
The state police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said on Friday that the incident happened on October 18, 2026, and was reported at the Ajuwon Police Station.
Mr Babaseyi said, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased and the suspect had finished their day’s work at a cow meat-selling outlet when a misunderstanding arose over sweeping the floor.
“During the altercation, the suspect allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed the deceased in the left side of his chest before twisting the weapon. The victim was rushed to Life Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His remains were deposited at Life Channel Private Mortuary, Lambe, Ajuwon, for autopsy.”
Mr Babaseyi said the suspect is in police custody as investigations continue.
The commissioner of police, Bode Ojajuni, urged residents to exercise restraint, resolve disagreements peacefully, and report criminal incidents promptly.
