Amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Asian Tour has decided to cancel its final event of the season, the PIF Saudi International, previously scheduled for November 18-21 at Riyadh Golf Glub in Saudi Arabia.
The Tour cited organizational and logistical challenges and said further announcements on the 2026 season and the 2027 schedule were to come.
“The PIF Saudi International is one of the most important events on the Asian Tour calendar, and we look forward to seeing our players compete in Riyadh in the future,” Cho Minn Thant, Asian Tour commissioner and CEO, said in a statement.
However, the DP World Tour playoffs, starting in three weeks, in the United Arab Emirates are reportedly still a go.
“It is our intention to play the two playoff events as scheduled in the UAE next month, but we continue to monitor the situation and take advice from our international travel advisors,” a DP World Tour spokesperson told Golfweek.
The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links Golf Club in Abu Dhabi is set to begin on November 5, followed by the final playoff event in the Race to Dubai, the DP World Tour Championship, at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai on November 12.
New father and defending DP World Tour Championship winner Matt Fitzpatrick previously expressed concerns about traveling to the Middle East for the playoffs, but the Englishman recently said he’s planning to attend.
Eugenio Chacarra boosted his Race to Dubai prospects with a five-under-par effort and Rory McIlroy was three shots behind him at the DP World India Championship on Thursday as a five-hour delay for lightning meant the first round could not be completed.
