TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 30-year-old female university student for allegedly extorting cash from the manager of soapland bathhouse where she previously worked, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 20).
Yasuna Nakamura, a resident of Harumi in Chuo Ward, is accused of extortion and attempted extortion. Upon her arrest on Tuesday by the Asakusa Police Station, she denied the allegations, telling investigators, “It is a mistake.”
Between July 26 and 29, Nakamura allegedly contacted the manager of the Taito Ward sex establishment, a man in his 50s, both over the phone and in person.
“I am coming to pick up the personal belongings I left behind,” she reportedly told him. “If you pay my round-trip taxi fare, I won’t file a criminal complaint under the Anti-Prostitution Law.”
After successfully extorting 75,000 yen from the manager, Nakamura attempted to squeeze him for more. Police allege she demanded a massive secondary payoff, telling the victim, “Please transfer 1 million yen as a condition for not filing a criminal complaint.”
According to the Asakusa Police Station, Nakamura quit working at the establishment in early July. Investigators confirmed that she had never actually filed any criminal complaint against the bathhouse.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
