ANDONG — A five-star hotel will be built in the new town surrounding North Gyeongsang Province's provincial government complex.
North Gyeongsang Province said on the 22nd that Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Josun Hotels & Resorts Chief Executive Choi Hoon-hak, Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang and Korea Gyeongbuk Development Corporation President Lee Jae-hyuk signed a memorandum of understanding at the provincial government building that day to develop the five-star hotel.
The four parties agreed to cooperate on expanding investment in hotels and tourist lodging facilities and on promoting the food, dining, tourism and MICE industries.
By bringing Josun Hotel, one of South Korea's leading hotel brands, to Andong, the province plans to expand lodging infrastructure and build a stay-oriented tourism ecosystem linked to the region's tourism assets, including its World Heritage sites, traditional culture and cuisine.
The province expects that a five-star hotel in the new provincial capital town will lengthen visitor stays, increase local spending and improve both living conditions and the city's competitiveness.
"By attracting a hotel brand that represents South Korea, we will develop North Gyeongsang into a new hub for stay-oriented tourism and build a foundation where tourism and the food industry grow together," the governor said.
