Although the Washington Huskies were able to snap a three-game losing streak in Big Ten play on Friday night on the road at Purdue, it didn't do much for their standing in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Jedd Fisch's team didn't receive any votes in the latest installment of the poll following a 38-26 victory over the Boilermakers on Friday, where quarterback Elijah Brown threw for 302 yards with 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, while the Huskies had their best day of the year on the ground, racking up 186 rushing yards in the win.
Defensively, coordinator Ryan Walters was able to exact some more revenge on the program that fired him in 2024, as his unit contained quarterback Ryan Browne, who completed just 51 percent of his passes in the contest while being sacked three times and throwing a pair of interceptions in the loss. While the Huskies weren't included, some of their opponents saw a major shakeup in a wild weekend of college football.
Following a 17-14 loss to the Oregon Ducks, UW's next opponent, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, slid down the "others receiving votes" category with 19 points, down from 74 last week, which made coach Matt Rhule's team the de facto No. 28 team in the country before the loss.
Coach Dan Lanning's team stood pat at No. 25 with the win, while the Indiana Hoosiers fell two spots to No. 6 after a home loss to the now-No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, and with five losses inside the top eight spots, the Iowa Hawkeyes and USC Trojans moved up one spot each to No. 14 and No. 15 respectively.
