KARACHI – The hot and dry weather is expected to persist in Karachi over the next several days.
The maximum temperatures is likely to reach 39 degrees Celsius as per prediction of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The weather department said the effects of sea breezes and northwesterly winds originating from Balochistan could remain prominent in the city during the coming days.
October is generally a warm month in Karachi, and the current spell of heat is part of the seasonal transition, as winter weather patterns gradually begin to develop.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are expected to remain relatively high during the coming days before conditions begin to change gradually with the onset of cooler weather.
The department said cooler conditions could begin to emerge during the morning and nighttime hours from mid-November, bringing some relief from the prevailing heat.
More noticeable winter conditions are expected to set in between early and mid-December, when temperatures are likely to begin falling further.
Anjum Nazir Zaigham, deputy director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi, clarified that there was no indication of unusually severe cold in the city this year.
He said Karachi was expected to experience winter weather within the normal seasonal range during the usual winter period.
The current weather conditions reflect the gradual transition between the summer and winter seasons, with temperatures expected to remain warm before the arrival of cooler air later in the year.
The residents have been advised to take precautions during the hot spell, particularly during the afternoon when temperatures are expected to peak.
Adequate hydration and limiting prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can help reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The Met Office will continue to monitor changing weather conditions as Karachi moves towards the winter season.
