EXCLUSIVE: Walter Thompson-Hernández’s buzzy indie feature If I Go Will They Miss Me is among 10 titles screening in the International Competition at this year’s Thessaloniki Film Festival.
If I Go Will They Miss Me debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically by James Shani’s Rich Spirit. Danielle Brooks, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Bodhi Dell star in the drama, which revolves around a boy who sees “ghostly figures of other boys in his neighborhood while grappling with his father’s distance. These visions uncover hidden connections between them and their shared heritage.”
This year’s International Competition jury at Thessaloniki is led by Gaia Furrer, film programmer and Artistic Director of Giornate degli Autori; Achilleas Kyriakidis, writer, translator, screenwriter, and filmmaker; and Jack Tarling, producer.
The Golden Alexander “Theo Angelopoulos” – Best Feature Film Award comes with a 10,000-euro cash prize, while the Silver Alexander – Best Direction Award has a 5,000-euro cash prize. The jury will also bestow the Best Actor Award and the Best Actress Award. The Jury may also award a Best Screenplay Award or a Best Artistic Achievement Award.
Thessaloniki runs from November 5 to 15.
