ULSAN — Ulju County in Ulsan is holding an event that pairs mountain sports with cultural performances for families and children visiting the Yeongnam Alps this autumn.
The county said on the 20th that it will host the 2026 Ulju Climbing Day from the 23rd to the 25th at the international climbing facility inside the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center.
The event is designed to give visitors a range of rock-climbing experiences and to broaden participation in mountain sports. This year it is being held alongside the 2026 Yeongnam Alps Healing Concert, combining sports activities with live music.
The lineup consists of five climbing programs and two mountain activities. The climbing programs are mobile climbing on a 7-meter artificial wall, tree climbing using ropes, sport climbing on an internationally certified course, monkey climbing using artificial holds attached to trees, and speed climbing, which times ascents on internationally standardized equipment. Also on offer are a rope-assisted valley crossing and a mountain escape program using a zip line.
All climbing activities are registered on-site at the event headquarters on a first-come, first-served basis on the day. Further details are available from the international climbing facility at the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center.
On the 24th, the second day of the event, the 2026 Yeongnam Alps Healing Concert will take place at the center's central plaza. The program includes busking performances and JCN's "Neighborhood Singing King" contest, with guest singers Ahn So-mi, Shin Na-ra and Jeon Myeong-geun taking the stage. A flea market featuring 14 teams of local vendors will also be set up.
"We put the programs together so that everyone from children to visiting families can try mountain sports firsthand," a Ulju County official said. "We hope people enjoy both the sports activities and the concert in the Yeongnam Alps."
