By Zoila Palma: Belize’s livestock sector is set for further development following the groundbreaking ceremony held on October 23, 2026 for a new cattle export corral in Chan Chen Village, Corozal District.
The project is expected to improve cattle handling and strengthen the country’s readiness for livestock exports.
The initiative is funded by the World Bank through the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture Project (CRESAP), in collaboration with the Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries, and the Ministry of Economic Transformation.
The new facility aims to support Belizean farmers by improving livestock handling and strengthening the cattle value chain.
The project is also expected to contribute to economic growth and promote greater sustainability within Belize’s agricultural sector.
