Two oil tankers carrying approximately four million barrels of crude oil caught fire after striking naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The incidents come amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, a naval counter-blockade, and a sharp decline in oil shipments. Kpler data shows crude oil transit through the Strait fell from 20.8 million barrels on 8 October to 2.9 million on 11 October. Could the growing maritime crisis further disrupt global energy markets?
