Samsung apparently plans to take on the Apple iPhone Duo with an even more premium foldable soon, as a leaked image offers a first look at the Samsung W27, which combines a dark blue back with gold metal accents.

The highly reliable leaker Ice Universe has shared a first image of a smartphone said to be the Samsung W27. The smartphone looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra ($1,899 on Amazon), but features a glossy, dark blue back, while the frame and camera module have a metallic gold finish. The back also bears Mandarin characters, suggesting that the device is intended for the Chinese market.
None of this is surprising, as the Samsung W27, much like last year's Samsung W26 is likely intended as a luxury version of the current Galaxy Z flagship smartphone specifically for China. Since the Samsung W26 was unveiled in October 2025, the launch of the W27 is likely not far off, but no further details about the flagship foldable's launch date, specifications or price are known yet. In terms of hardware, there are likely to be hardly any differences between the Samsung W27 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which we have already reviewed in detail.
The smartphone is therefore expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a 5,000 mAh battery with 45-watt fast charging into a 4.1-millimeter-thin body. In the age of the Apple iPhone Duo, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra's form factor is no longer quite as popular, but its 8-inch main display with a resolution of 2,504 x 2,256 pixels and its 6.5-inch secondary display with 2,520 x 1,080 pixels at least offer more room for apps and multitasking than the more compact "wide foldables".
