Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Ahmed Musa has assumed duty as the 25th head of Police Zone 10 Headquarters in Sokoto, with responsibility for coordinating policing activities across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
Musa assumed office on Monday, October 12, 2026, succeeding AIG Augustine G. Grimah, who retired from the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdallah Faruk Ambursa, Musa pledged to strengthen security operations, tackle violent crimes and improve public confidence in the police.
The new zonal police chief urged officers under his command to uphold discipline, professionalism and dedication to their duties.
He also called on residents of the three states to provide credible and actionable intelligence to help the police prevent and detect crime.
Musa pledged to strengthen cooperation with the Armed Forces, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to address security challenges and sustain peace across the zone.
He said inter-agency collaboration would remain central to his approach to policing.
The AIG also promised to maintain an open-door policy to encourage public engagement and enable residents to raise concerns about security and police operations.
Before his appointment, Musa served as AIG in charge of Community Policing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
