Yandy Diaz channeled his clutch gene as he fired away a two-run homer during the ninth inning of the Tampa Bay Rays’ 7-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the ALCS on Saturday night.
Diaz has been playing in the majors since 2017, going through his eighth year with the Rays. He shines as one of the best hitters in the league, earning his second All-Star selection this year after last achieving it in 2023.
Diaz played a key role in helping Tampa Bay flourish as one of the best squads in the American League. Topping their division, they got a bye to the ALDS. They took care of business by beating down the New York Yankees in a three-game sweep to reach the ALCS.

Tampa Bay found itself in a tough spot ahead of Game 4, trailing 2-1 in the series. They need to win to even up the best-of-seven series at two games apiece, which Diaz was more than happy to oblige.
Diaz asserted his presence in the final inning of the game. Tampa Bay led 5-3 in the frame, but Diaz provided valuable insurance with his two-run homer as it allowed the visitors to secure the road win.
