(ANSA) - ROME, 21 OTT - Adherence to the rules is essential and illegal acts must be distinguished, Palazzo Chigi sources said Wednesday on the ongoing trucker fuel-price-protest blockades that the government is cracking down on.
The continuation of certain protests, despite the dialogue already initiated and an agreement reached with industry associations, points to a "more complex" situation, they said.
Sources from Premier Giorgia Meloni's office, Palazzo Chigi, commenting on the blockades by heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), emphasize that "it is necessary to clearly distinguish between the legitimate grievances of operators in the sector and the actions of those who persist with blockades, even though a channel for institutional dialogue has been opened. Likewise, a distinction must be made between legitimate protests and any instances of illegal activity." "Respect for the rules, freedom of movement, and the protection of economic activities," the sources stress, "must remain non-negotiable priorities." (ANSA).
