Florida will likely be without its starting quarterback for its clash against Texas. Aaron Philo, who suffered a shoulder injury during last week's loss to South Carolina, will sit today with Tramell Jones Jr. getting his first start, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
While Philo won't start, it's possible he could be available off the bench. Thamel reports Florida will determine if Philo can play in pregame warmups.
Jones, a sophomore and former three-star recruit, didn't exactly light it up after entering the game for an injured Philo last week. The backup completed six of his eight passes for only 40 yards, tossing an interception as well.
Here's what we know about Florida's quarterback situation as the Gators hope to end their two-game skid.
Who is Tramell Jones Jr.?
Jones is a 6-foot, 196-pound quarterback out of Jacksonville, Florida. He's appeared in seven games across two seasons, completing 44 of his 64 passes for 443 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
When will Aaron Philo return?
Since Philo could possibly play off the bench today, it wouldn't be shocking to see him return next week vs. Georgia.
