The National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported today that ‘‘individuals have entered the crude oil reception terminal—operated by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) and located adjacent to the Zawia Refinery—and closed an isolation valve at the terminus of an 18-inch crude oil pipeline.
This pipeline is used to transport and receive crude oil produced from the company’s Al-Hamada and Al-Tahara fields. The action was taken without the knowledge or prior coordination of the relevant technical and operational authorities.
The NOC warned that the continuation of this closure will result in the loss of crude oil production, negatively impacting production rates and undermining efforts to maintain the stability of oil operations and increase production capacity—as well as affecting oil revenues.
The NOC emphasized the necessity of keeping oil facilities free from any interference that could obstruct operational activities. It stresses the importance of safeguarding these facilities and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of crude oil.
Furthermore, the NOC called upon the competent authorities to intervene immediately to reopen the valve and secure the site, enabling the corporation to carry out its technical and operational duties.
