Chattogram-based Sanatani music band Team Briste is set to embark on its maiden India tour to perform at Durga Puja celebrations in Assam.
Invited by the Madhabpur Navadurga Puja Committee, the band will leave for India on Wednesday. Its first concert will take place in Madhabpur village of Hailakandi district in Assam. After performing at several consecutive stage shows, the group is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on 28 October.
Known for blending devotional music, traditional Bengali melodies and contemporary songs, Team Briste has already generated considerable interest among the audience.
Band manager Amit Saha said the group would present modern devotional songs alongside contemporary folk-fusion performances.
“We are delighted and proud to perform in India for the first time. This is a special achievement for us. We want our music and culture to reach Bengali-speaking audiences worldwide,” he said.
“We dream of representing Bangladesh on bigger international stages with the love and blessings of audiences from both Bengals,” he added.
The band's lineup comprises Brihte Dey (vocals), Akash Dey (ukulele), Badsha (Bangla dhol), Amit Saha (octapad), Suman Das (keyboard), Chhoton Ghosh (flute) and Tanmoy Dutta (bass guitar).
Vocalist Briste Dey, who hails from Patiya in Chattogram, recalled that the band's journey began during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We started gathering with friends during lockdown, and music became the centre of our conversations. Gradually, we began performing at different events, and our popularity grew,” she said.
The band’s notable releases include “Mukhe Beshi Kotha Koiyona”, “Koto Apon”, “Nijere Bashio Bhalo” and “Megh Pahare”, reflecting the group’s growing musical journey.
